Once a mining outpost, this Magical Town is loaded with history – especially when taking into account its small size. Its attractions are rewarding: it preserves interesting examples of colonial art and architecture as well as inviting gardens and a first-rate greenhouse. In spite of all of this, in retrospect the best part was the care and dedication of the town’s residents in sharing all of Real de Asientos’s charms with its visitors.

One of the main places of interests is Los Tuneles (The Tunnels), which were built in the 18th Century. This hydraulic works passes underneath the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Belen (The Parish Church of Our Lady of Bethlehem), with its gallery where you can find a fascinating collection of sacred art. Real de Asientos is ideal for ecotourism and adventure activities. If you get the chance, attend the town’s traditional festivals.

Useful Information:
Real de Asientos, AguascalientesReal de Asientos is a town that can be enjoyed at any time of year. However, a good time to visit is during the month of January, when festivities are held in honor of the town’s patron, Our Lady of Bethlehem, including the staging of an agricultural and farming fair. Bear in mind that this small town has a semi-desert climate, so we recommend that you wear cool clothing and take warm clothes for the evenings, as they can get quite cold. Don’t forget to buy some of the local clay pottery (there are delightful pots, vases, jugs and flowerpots).
